The Unlimited Opportunities
Day Services are as varied as are the people we support. Community is a vital part of the resource center model that is offered when you come to ABS for assistance. Our staff focus is on assisting people in building relationships with family, friends, co-workers and people with the same interests. Our ultimate goal is to provide opportunities for enriched lives for everyone.
Workshop opportunities:
We provide opportunities for people to become more skilled in the labor force. This training is done in a supported environment and focuses on increasing work habits and work skills.
Supported Employment opportunities:
People interested in working at community jobs are assisted by our Supported Employment staff. We work hard to find employment that is a good job match for the person. Our ultimate goal is to have the person become a productive member of the workforce of their choosing.
Education opportunities:
Lifelong learning is an important part of the human experience. We offer on-line classes at our main building through the College of Direct Support. We also offer a variety of Life Skills classes that are designed to assist people with their daily living sk
ills.
We assist people to connect with educational opportunities in the community through Adult Education Classes offered at a variety of places within Yankton and the surrounding communities. Some examples of these are: GED classes offered through South East Job Link, Adult Education Classes offered through the local high school.
Alternative to Work opportunities:
We provide services to people ranging in age from young adults to seniors. People for a variety of reasons throughout their lifespan may choose at some point to seek enrichment opportunities in areas other than employment. For these people we offer our Alternative to Work opportunities. We tap into their individualized interests and assist in designing supports to help them find meaningful experiences.
